Physical Activity is Essential

For  Healthy Aging

As an older adult, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. It can prevent or delay many of the health problems that seem to come with age. It also helps your muscles grow stronger so you can keep doing your day-to-day activities without becoming dependent on others.

Working out and staying active is important

I've chosen to adapt to my age, make my workouts a little bit different and focused on staying lean, and avoiding injury - Arnold Schwarzenegger (75)

My Wife and I Feel Younger Than We Did 10 Years ago

I know what it's like to see your great-grandkids and not be able to do everything they want.
My wife and I weren't able to do the activities we do today. We were happy about retirement and started to "enjoy it" just watching tv and staying home before we know it we started having trouble doing things that used to be easy.  We weren't physically active and started to notice we were physically declining.
The turning point was when our great-granddaughter wanted to play outside and was struggling to keep up with her. We knew it was time to make a decision and decided to join the gym and start being active every day, even if it was small things. We enjoyed it and had fun with it. Slowly but surely we felt ourselves getting stronger and more limber. Everyone can do it and you owe it to your family and partner to be here to create as many memories as possible with them.

How We Help You Meet Your Goals

Staying Active To Slow Down The Aging Process

Resistance Training

There are many ways you can strengthen your muscles, whether it’s at home or the gym. The activities you choose should work all the major muscle groups of your body (legs, hips, back, chest, abdomen, shoulders, and arms). You may want to try:
  • Lifting weights
  • Working with resistance bands
  • Doing exercises that use your body weight for resistance (push-ups, sit-ups)

Movement

As long as you’re doing aerobic physical activities at a moderate- or vigorous-intensity, they count towards meeting the aerobic guideline. Even something as simple as walking is a great way to get the aerobic activity you need, as long as it’s at a moderately intense pace.
  • Walking or hiking
  • Some forms of yoga
  • Bicycle riding (stationary or outdoors)
  • Water aerobics

Balance Training

Balance activities help prevent falling. Walking backward, standing on one leg, or using a wobble board are examples of balance activities. Strengthening back, abdomen, and leg muscles also improves balance.
  • Yoga
  • Aerobics
  • Core Training
